Project Spec-D 210

SPEC-D

CAR 1979 Datsun 210

Project "Cheap Drift"

I bought the 79 Datsun 210 from my uncle Bob's buddy Duke for $220. The car was a mess sitting on two flats for the last 2 years and hadent run in God knows how long. I bought this car with Drifting in mind also because it was brutaly cheap and could be fun to drive. The car had almost a 50/50 weight balance and was equiped with the larger option a14 4 cylinder engine not to mention it was a 4 speed car. After spending 3 hours to get the car to move I was convinced that I had bought a lemon, it had seemed this was for some time till I had started paying for some new things the car needed, such as: OEM Hoses, Plugs, Wires, Cap and rotar. New battery termanals ect... It starts to add up after a while man. I quickly had found myself spending more than the car had origanaly cost me. After spending the money to get her runnin really well, I thought the body needs some attention so I had bought a can of bondo and some short strand fiber glass to start. Well after starting to grind away some of the rust all hell broke loose with 3X the rust that had appeard on first glance. After finding all that rust I relized I needed more supplise so after the first can's were empty I drove to the nerest body supply shop for some more bondo and such. When all the hours of filling and samding were done, it looked very well. 3 Days after that I decided it was time to see what the car had for the first time after adding a tach and some cool little yellow fog lights. My buddy Danny though we should race with his newly registerd AE86, 1985 Toyota corolla GTS. I dropped the car at 4 grand nearly the redline and left the line smokin both of em with a 2 way L.S.D. The corolla couldent hold it off the line but not long after I hit 110km/h he passed me to win by about a lenght to a lenght and a half. Not bad for a nearly stock Datsun 210. Then for the second time after tuning the carb up with my cousin and a little weight reduction. The race was off the green with a 400hp GMC truck and a tweaked Z24. I started behind them both and had kept up to there bumpers nearly giving a tap to the truck off of the line, we left scwealing away from all other traffic. The I felf a ripple in the rpm and see them start to fall as my fuel pump had given out on me. It had turned out it was just a fuel line had popped off due to high pressure. I had gotten a little bored with the car and decided to sell it to some younger kids like myself who saw it and also thought "DRIFT CAR". For $400. Are they ever getting a fun car man! After the body work was done I added some hood pin's, shift knob and race pedals and blue interior light's. All said and done I only spent about $400 man, thats a sweet ride for 400 bucks.
